Dudley Young Fire Fighters

Nine students have been recruited to engage with local uniformed organisations. The course includes practical use of fire service equipment, the roles of emergency services, health and safety, local policing and community cohesion.

School Disco

Youngsters and staff let their hair down last night and enjoyed a brilliant disco organised for Years 7 & 8.

Clothes Show Winner!

Congratulations to Christina Butler who won £2,000 for her "bag" design. Bethany Brookes also did well with her design for a "travel bag". Y9 girls won the overall competition at Himley Hall.

Dudley Christmas Lights

Castle High Music Department turned on the Christmas lights in Dudley Town Centre.

Albion Foundation

WBA have formed a partnership with Castle High youngsters. The programme includes developing Literacy, Numeracy and ICT. Building confidence, self esteem, communication and higher levels of attainment.

Aston Martin of the Future!

Students entered a competition and produced sketches of how an Aston Martin would look in the future. The winner will be placed in a draw to win a VIP invitation to visit the Aston Martin headquaters in Gaydon.

Focus Day

Students enjoyed taking part in a special Poppy Day assembly, Student Council, Form Bonding, Positive Points, Anti-Bullying and Team Building activities.

National Youth Week

Four students represented Castle High School as part of National Youth Week and enjoyed "Taking Over Police" for the day. The youngsters developed skills on decision-making, verbal communication, evidence gathering, planning, discretion and investigation.

Urban Art!

Look out for our new Visual Arts Gallery to be based in the Fountain Arcade, Dudley.

Halloween Toffee Apples

Activities this half term included "Ghost Stories in the Dark" at The Pavillion, Priory Park, an Under 13 Fancy Dress Party at Wrens Nest Community Centre and the After School Get Cooking Club had great fund making "toffee apples".

Castle High Music Tour!

Castle High Music Department went on tour this week to Primary Schools.
Jessons, St Edmund & St John, Kates Hill and Foxyards enjoyed DJs, Samba Band, Woodwind, Brass Ensemble a Vocal Duet and Y11 band "New Beginning".

Duncan Edwards Juniors FC Open Day

A great Open Day and Charity Car Wash took place on Saturday. Special thank you to Ian Austin MP for attending the event. Shaun Davies, parent commented "What an amazing day to involve all the community".

Castle High After School Youth Forum

Castle High Youth Forum meets regularly to represent the views of young people and have a say in decisions which affect after-school activities.

OCU Commander's Certificate of Thanks

Congratulations to Teresa Jones, School and Community Cohesion Manager, who received this special award for "her invaluable support to neighbourhood policing which had directly led to a marked decrease in crime and anti-social behaviour and contributed significantly to the enhancement of public reassurance". The award was presented by Keith Baldwin, Chief Superintendent, J1 OCU Commander.

Dudley Dancers Fund Raising Activities

Dudley Dancers, meet each week under the guidance of Joanne Powell and other parents who choreograph and practice dance routines. This weekend they were busy raising funds for "Cheeky Chimps Fun Day". Watch the video clip.

Summer School - 20th to 24th July 2009

We have an exciting programme this year "Change the World". The programme, which supports students joining the school in September, will be looking at global warming, poor education, respect and appreciating others.

Castle High receives Platinum Award - 2nd year running!

Platinum Food for Health Award recognises the achievement of excellence in being proactive in supporting young people and their families to achieve a healthy balanced diet.
